Another rockstar joins the Ulu team
We continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month; Ulu made five new investments and Ulupreneurs raised more than $17M!
What better way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month than to welcome another Latina partner, Maria Salamanca, to the team! We’ve known Maria as an investor and friend since 2015. Ulu has invested with her, through her previous firm Unshackled Ventures, on four occasions. Latino Leaders Magazine featured Miriam’s pioneering journey in Silicon Valley tech and venture capital in the Latinos in Tech section of the issue. (pages 24-25)
Kauffman Fellows
Clint Korver (Class 14) gave his annual presentation on the Ulu Ventures philosophy of portfolio construction to an audience of Kauffman Fellows. Clint’s talk always sparks a lot of lively debate among the Fellows.
Goldman Sachs
Miriam was featured as a panelist for Goldman Sachs celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The panel explored the road to entrepreneurship from a Latina’s perspective. The overall theme of the GS conference was “Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation.” The goal was to reinforce the need to ensure diverse voices and perspectives are welcomed in decision-making processes.
Harlem Capital
Harlem Capital featured Miriam in a firm blog post about what top VCs look for in founders.
The National Association of Investment Companies profiled Miriam in their newsletter and described how Ulu Ventures has led the way in funding diverse founders.
#3686 Festival
Maria Salamanca took the main stage at TNs #3686 festival, a premier gathering of founders and investors highlighting the Southeast entrepreneurial ecosystem. Discussions centered around growth and appeal to founders due to affordability, talent, and diversity.
LTX Quest
Nancy Torres and Maria Salamanca were speakers on different panels at LTX Quest, the largest hybrid gathering of Latinx professionals in the US and was held as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. The panels explored a variety of Latinx issues with the aim of developing a national strategy of change in action
Latinx MBA Association
Nancy and the Latinx MBA Association hosted a fireside chat with Tanya Menendez, Co-Founder and CEO of Snowball Wealth and an Ulupreneur, on building generational wealth for the Latinx community.
