At Ulu Ventures, we evaluate all potential investments using a standard rubric built on the following dimensions:
- Good Ulu Fit
- Big Market Opportunity
- Strong Team
- Compelling Product
- Focused Go-to-Market
- Financial Viability
- Clear and Aligned Values
You can read more about how we use these criteria to evaluate seed state startups here. While we consider a wide range of deal types, there are several factors that lead to an automatic “no-go”:
- Headquartered outside the US
- Cannabis or cannabis related
- Anything to do with gambling or games of chance
If you feel confident you are a good fit for our investment thesis, please fill in the form on this page. We almost always respond within two business days with a decline or an indication of interest.
We follow a five step process for evaluating potential investments. You can find a description of the process here. If we’re interested, we’ll ask you to set up a meeting. Often we’ll ask for you to send along some additional documentation like a business plan, financial projections, and a cap table.
Our ambition is to get to key decision points quickly.
Email from your company URL matters
Making the effort to secure an online domain is an early and easy sign you’re serious about your venture. Our intake process keys off your company’s URL, so if you don’t have one, if you’re sending us a pitch from your gmail account and have no company website, we’re probably not going to spend a lot of time evaluating it.
