Summer Barghouti

She/Her
Chief Operating Officer

Summer is Ulu Ventures’ COO, managing the systems and developing processes that support the investment team as well as Ulu’s portfolio companies and investors.

Prior to joining Ulu, Summer spent most of her career working at startups where she’s been responsible for building out teams, systems, and processes at various stages of growth.

After undergrad, she joined a charter school, D.C. Preparatory Academy, as the second employee of the founding team. During her time there, she was promoted to Operations Manager, where she was responsible for managing the school’s day-to-day operations. DC Prep is now a network of schools with multiple campuses.

After DC Prep, Summer went back to business school to learn about finance and spent seven years on the buy-side as the healthcare analyst at New Amsterdam Partners, a long-only equity fund. Her tenure there allowed her to gain a deep understanding of the financial side of building and running a company.

Most recently, Summer was the VP of Operations at Heartwork, a startup that designs and manufactures furniture for commercial office spaces. As the head of operations and finance, she was responsible for corporate planning, strategy, and managing the supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, customer experience, and finance teams. During her time at Heartwork, the firm became cash-flow positive and profitable while growing almost 3X in revenue.  Prior to Heartwork, Summer was VP of Product at a healthcare tech startup, Integra Partners, where she was responsible for managing key corporate initiatives and building the product team. While she was there, Integra Partners was acquired by Tufts Health Plan.

Summer earned a BSE in product design from Stanford University and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
