Miriam Rivera joined her Forbes 50 Over 50 2024 cohort to help ring the closing bell at the NYSE in a Wall Street salute to this year’s list. Ulu Ventures COO Summer Barghouti passed her Chartered Financial Analyst exam Level 3 (no easy feat!). And we closed the chapter on Hispanic Heritage Month featuring founder stories with two of our Latino Ulupreneurs.

Miriam Rivera, selected by Forbes recently for the 50 Over 50 List, gathered for an event in New York honoring recipients, moderated by MSNBC’s Mika Brzesinski. The group also rang the closing bell for the New York Stock Exchange. Miriam is seen above with her daughter Sophia.

SomosVC Annual Summit

Maria Salamanca and Miriam Rivera attended the SomosVC Annual Summit. Maria, one of the co-founders of SomosVC, gave opening remarks for the event, which is estimated to be the largest Latino/a gathering of the year. It is dedicated to discovering new opportunities within the Latino/a VC ecosystem to drive growth.

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam

Summer Barghouti Ulu Ventures' Chief of Operations

Summer Barghouti, Ulu’s Chief of Operations, just passed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. The extremely challenging exam has three levels and the pass rate for each level is low. The percentage of people who pass all three levels is small—his year, only 48% passed Level 3. CFA is a professional designation that demonstrates a financial analyst’s competence and ethics.

Miriam Rivera, Maria Salamanca, and Andrea Bogarin attended a Latina breakfast hosted by Pivotal Ventures to celebrate the impact of Latina VCs and discuss how to grow the Latina investor ecosystem. Held during Hispanic Heritage Month and on the sidelines of SF Tech Week, the event brought together Latina investors and capital allocators to build community, share ideas, and explore ways to collaborate moving forward.

Some students were interested in venture and others in entrepreneurship, but all were keen on learning how to bring intentionality to all aspects of their lives—family, marriage, and careers.
